Sydney's Best Undercover Picnic Spots with a View
Are there any undercover places with a great view in Sydney?
Because the weather is so unpredictable, it’s always a good idea to be prepared and know what to do if it rains on a picnic. Here are some great locations in Sydney to choose from on a rainy day.
- Bradfield Park Milsons-point
A picnic spot with views of the Harbour Bridge, the Opera House and the harbour itself - welcome to Bradfield Park. Found at the northern end of the bridge at Milsons Point, Bradfield Park sits directly across the water from the Opera House and quite literally under the bridge. You can see the entire city centre from here.
- Milsons Point, underneath the Dome
Perfect spot to have a picnic when is raining, without missing the view!
- Paddington Reservoir Gardens
Paddington Reservoir Gardens are really something very special. So unexpected and so amazing they should be on everyone’s to-do list.
The gardens were formally a water source for Sydney in the 19th century but no longer supplied water after 1899. It was recreated in its current form in 2009 and is heritage listed.
Featured within the reservoir are gardens and boardwalks. There is a sunken garden as well as a section of preserved graffiti. Enjoy a picnic or stroll. Take the time to read a book or browse the newspaper. Lighting transforms the space at dusk.
The Rotunda at Observatory Hill - at additional cost
This magical spot is normally hired for weddings and events. For more information, please head to https://www.cityofsydney.nsw.gov.au/hireable-outdoor-spaces/rotunda-observatory-hill
Or you can always have an indoors Plan B; at home or somebody else's home, balcony, garden with a gazebo, and more!
Whichever location you choose, we hope you and your loved one have a great picnic! – love, Cami @Luhobox
